Our Ministries

The following is a list of the ministries at Bucks Central Church, together with a brief description of their purpose.

Job Opening:
Director of Children's and Youth Ministries

We are pleased to announce the opening of our search for a part-time Director of Children’s & Youth Ministries. We have posted a Position Description, outlining the qualifications, skills, and responsibilities we seek from our new director.

Children's Ministry

Lisa Reiser, Sunday School Coordinator

We place a strong emphasis on our ministry for children, striving to involve them in all aspects of our fellowship. Children are welcome during the worship service, and the pastor includes a special children’s message each week. The Children’s Ministry Team provides nursery care for kids under five years of age, and age-appropriate Bible classes for children from age two through grade six during the second half of the Sunday morning worship time. Each spring, we offer a Communicants Class for interested sixth graders who desire to learn more about the faith we confess, and the rights and obligations of membership in a Christian community (as the Westminster Confession puts it, "what man is to believe concerning God" and "what duties God requires of man"). For more information, see our Children & Youth Ministries page.

Youth Ministry: 7th-12th Grade

Tom Real, Activities Coordinator

The purpose of our Youth Ministry is to prepare Christ's young men and women for a life-long committment to God and his kingdom. Periodically, we gather our teens and their friends for fun activities and events; and we recently launched a regular youth jam session. For more information, see our Children & Youth Ministries page.

Adult Education Ministry

Jules Grisham, Coordinator

The goal of the Adult Education program of Bucks Central Church is to equip the saints with the resources they need for mature Christian living, by deepening them in God's word and by providing opportunities for ongoing immersion in the word and in community with one another. Engaging and enjoying the living Word of God in a community context, and then applying it, practicing its principles in the course of day-to-day living, is the heart of our mission to cultivate, train up, and serve the Kingdom together as disciples of Christ.

Toward this end, we have launched a mid-week Pastor's Bible Study, called The Fellowship of the Mystery. The group meets on Wednesday nights, 7:00-8:30 pm, at the home of Pastor Grisham. We have begun a massive, in-depth study of The Life and Letters of Paul, and are currently examining the period of Paul's life from his writing of Galatians to the writing of 1 Thessalonians. Light snacks and coffee will be provided each week. Periodically, we will interrupt the regular Bible study for some special event -- which may range from a topical seminar or lecture, to a meal-and-movie night, to an evening or prayer and praise.

On the First Sunday of each month, there is an open house at Pastor Grisham’s home following the worship service, from 12:45-2:15 pm, to which all are invited to come for food and fellowship. This is a good opportunity for visitors and new attendees to meet people and to enjoy good fellowship time in a relaxed atmosphere. Welcome!

We offer Officers' Training classes in the spring and Inquirers (a.k.a. New Members) classes in the fall.

Women's Ministry

Leanne Augustine, Coordinator

The Women's Ministry at Bucks Central Church seeks to help each woman in the church to grow in her personal relationship with the Lord; to cultivate and deepen relationships with the other women in the church; and to reach out to her friends and neighbors. Our Women's Prayer Group meets on the first Thursday evening of each month, 7:30 pm, for a time of Bible study, discussion, prayer, and fellowship. There is also a monthly group that meets on second Tuesday morning of each month, 10:00 am-12:00 noon, called "Healing Hands." Click here for more information about either of these groups or other events for women. Note that we also plan to launch biannual Women's Luncheons, for which we'll invite a special guest speaker to address the group at some local restaurant. Stay tuned!

WIC (Women in the Church) is the PCA's women's organization, and the Women's Ministry coordinates Bucks Central's participation in the annual Philadelphia Presbytery WIC retreat.

Men's Ministry

Eric Lindbloom, Coordinator

The Men's Ministry at Bucks Central Church seeks to deepen each man's understanding of God's Word; to strengthen the bonds of friendship between men in the church; and to to nourish and sustain a bold consistency between the faith they profess and the life they live. The weekly Men's Bible Study meets on Tuesday nights at 7:30 pm, and the Men's Breakfast meets on the third Saturday morning of the month. Click here for more information about these or other men's events.

Global Impact (Missions)

Chuck Augustine, Chairman

The mission of the Global Impact Team is to encourage the congregation's involvement with missions and to budget the distribution of congregational contributions earmarked for missions. The Team plans an annual Missions Conference in March and other missions-related activities throughout the year. At the core of Bucks Central's mission strategy is the promotion of church planting, both in this country and abroad. Currently, we support missionary families in Senegal and Kenya, and four new churches in the Philadelphia area.

Fellowship Events

Tim Clydesdale, Event Coordinator, with the Deacons

At various times of the year we have special events to promote friendship among our members, regular attenders, and recent guests. Among these events are the Easter Egg Hunt and Pancake Benefit Breakfast (early spring); the Outdoor Service and Church Picnic/Cookout (late summer); the Agape Feast (early fall); and the Gingerbread House Fest (early December). Volunteer help is always needed and appreciated.

Care Ministries

Jeff MacKay, Coordinator

Through the Care Ministries we seek to demonstrate the love of Christ to each other and to others, both during during difficult times of need and on joyous occasions. We provide meals for those who are sick, in need, or upon the birth of a baby. On behalf of the congregation, we arrange for gifts to be given at baptisms, to honor graduates, to express our love to members who are moving, and to bless and thank our staff at Christmas time. We can and do provide financial assistance to those in need, upon request and interview. Our purpose is to show God’s love to one another in a tangible way, as well as in prayer. This ministry is funded solely by contributions made by the congregation. These funds can be given at any time and designated for "Care." The Christmas Eve and Good Friday offerings have been specifically designated for this purpose.
